Budapest 101

Weather: I was in Budapest from May 30th through June 2nd, and temperatures ranged from the upper 70s (F) to the mid-80s (F). The weather in Budapest was a bit gloomier with two days of rain, but on my last day, the sun was out, and it was very warm.

Transportation: Budapest is a large city, and many of the must-see attractions are not close to each other. The tour leader provided us with a 72-hour transportation pass that definitely got a lot of use!! As a group, we rode the metro, buses, and trams about 8 or 9 times, and then I used public transportation a few times during my extra day.

Food: Hungarian cuisine is amazing and not as meat-focused as Prague's. Restaurants offer vegetarian options, and many also include seafood dishes.

Language: Hungarian; Some locals working in hotels, restaurants, and main attractions speak a bit of English

Currency: Hungarian Forint (Ft) is the main currency, but some places also accept Euros. Credit cards are accepted in most restaurants and stores, but some stalls in the Central Market Hall just accept cash.

Travelers are recommended to use ATMs associated with Hungarian banks, as 3rd party ATMs may not be secure.
